AN GOBÁN - April 15th 2012

SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER

Faith is the most precious thing in the world. But it is exposed to the harsh winds of doubt which blow through the modern world. Here, at the weekend Mass, we experience a strengthening of our faith.

Theme of the Weekend Readings: The Good News of the resurrection of Jesus.

First Reading:  The first Christians share what they have with all.

Second Reading: The followers of Christ have God’s power in them.

Reflection

Hope

Hope looks for the good in people instead of harping on the worst.

Hope opens doors where despair will close them.

Hope discovers what can be done instead of grumbling about what cannot be done.

Hope lights a candle instead of cursing the darkness.

Hope regards problems small or large as opportunities.

Hope pushes ahead when it would be easy to quit.

Hope puts up with modest gains, realising that the longest journey begins with one step.

Hope draws its power from a deep trust in God

and the basic goodness of people.

Hope is a good loser because it had the divine assurance of final victory.

Wisdom: “Never undertake anything for which you wouldn’t have the courage to ask the blessing of heaven.”

Humour: A man was asked for the secret of his long marriage. He said ‘we take time to go to a restaurant two times a week, a little candlelight, dinner, soft music and dancing. She goes on Tuesdays and I go on Fridays.’

Bingo!  Bingo!  Bingo!
